Synopsis:
In this session, Local and overseas experts will review the latest evidence on the ongoing burden of COVID-19, the implications of emerging variants, and the role of updated vaccination in protecting vulnerable populations.
The session will also mark the introduction of Moderna's latest variant COVID-19 vaccine in Singapore, alongside practical guidance on proactive vaccination conversation strategies to improve vaccine uptake in everyday clinical practice.
By the end of this CME session, General Practitioners will be able to:
• Recognize the ongoing burden of COVID-19 and its impact relative to seasonal influenza, particularly among older
adults and medically vulnerable populations.
• Explain the need for updated COVID-19 vaccination by reviewing the effects of SARS-CoV-2 variant evolution,
waning immunity, and the effectiveness of currently recommended variant updated vaccines.
• Interpret the longer-term impact of COVID-19 on chronic diseases and overall health beyond acute infection to
inform evidence-based management of at-risk patients.
• Apply practical strategies to improve COVID-19 vaccination uptake, including presumptive recommendations and
co-administration with influenza vaccination.
