Speakers: Dr Ng Jing Yu (General / Colorectal Surgeon)

Synopsis:
Hemorrhoidal disease remains one of the most common—yet frequently misunderstood—ailments encountered in the primary care setting. For many patients, the journey begins and ends with over-the-counter remedies, but for others, chronic suffering or misdiagnosis leads to unnecessary complications.

In this session, we will embark on a journey from the historical treatments of the past to our modern understanding of this condition

  • A refresher on the anatomy and pathophysiology of Hemorrhoids

  • ‍Identifying "alarm features" and red flags that necessitate urgent surgical referral versus conservative management

  • An update on the latest evidence-based non-surgical and minimally invasive interventions available
